  • As Izzy mentioned in the Hebrew Quest vowels segment, Hebrew has five consonants that can stand in for vowels
  • א and ע simply take whichever applicable nikkud mark and are pronounced according to the vowel’s sound
  • ה, ו, י are slightly different, in that the consonant plus the vowel combines to form a single vowel unit
    • Note these vowels in the table below:
