24.9 Niphal Participle Strong
In the Participle, the נ of the Niphal is WRITTEN
Sing | Paradigm | Plural | Paradigm |
---|---|---|---|
ms | נִקְטָל | mp | נִקְטָלִים |
fs | נִקְטֶ֫לֶת | fp | נִקְטָלוֹת |
- Note \(V_S = \bar A\), which is the lengthened \(V_S\) of NP3ms
Derived Stem Participle \(V_S =\) the P3ms Vowel, lengthened if possible (usually)
- In Niphal, the Perfect 3ms \(V_S = A\) - using the above rule, the Niphal Participle \(V_S = \bar A\)
- For the Piel, the Perfect 3ms \(V_S = \bar E\). Since \(\bar E\) is already long, the Piel Participle is also \(\bar E\)
Three Exceptions:
- QPt = \(\bar E\)
- QPp = \(\bar U\)
- The Alternate FS “T-form” = נִקְטֶ֫לֶת
